Lost My Voice. What To Do..

My daughter and I caught a minor cold from one of the DCBs. My daughter is already over it and so is the DCB but its rearing its nasty head my way. I'm congested, have a wicked cough and I lost my voice 2 days ago and just keeps getting worse I know the best thing to do for it is to rest my voice but as you all know that'll never happen! Any one have any suggestions as to how I can help myself? I've drank nothing but tea and honey for the past 48 hours and have been taking vitamin C supplement drops, but I still sound like a dying frog.

Sounds like its turned into laryngitis.

It may take several more days for your voice to come back. I suggest keeping your neck warm with a warm scarf, continue drinking warm tea or broth (this is great), and also eat very well....whole proteins are great like boiled eggs, baked chicken, etc.

Try not to talk much...i know its hard esp if you have kids. I usually get laryngitis at least once a year. My colds AWAYS turn into laryngitis. The longest Ive had zero voice was 7 days.

I hope you get over it soon.

Aww thanks I go to the Dr tomorrow since I don't have kids besides my own. I hope I get over it soon. I think my daughter can sense I'm not 100% because she's acting like a terror! haha Totally stinks you get this once a year. I can't remember the last time I lost my voice. Its no fun at all. Every time I raise my voice over a whisper it causes a coughing fit. I'm just glad my DCB was picked up relatively early. Now just to manage my daughter. Thanks for the suggestions!
