The Friend SA DCKS - How Do You Cope?

I currently have a SA DCG who is CONSTANTLY right next to me..talking, asking questions, telling me stories about her life...
She is cute but it is driving me nuts LOL!
Every time I turn around, there she is. If I sit, she practically sits on top of me and whenever I am getting things done she is standing right at my feet chatting.
I have said numerous times - Why don't you go play so I can get some things done sweetie pie. She will for a few minutes and then come right back with something she just HAS to tell me.
I have also tried giving her little jobs and activities to do but it never lasts more than 10 minutes or so.
How do you deal with the friend SA DCK?

Do we have the same DCG? Mine is 9. She is from a children are to be seen and not heard family. I think she is just craving attention badly. I give her 15 minutes of my undivided attention. I taught her to play a few 'older kid' board games (she loves mancala) and we play that together and chat about her day, then it is right to snack and homework after school. It has helped tremendously. Not a FULL solution as she is still "Excuse me Miss ****" way too often, but it helped a lot!

Kitchen timer. Unless it is an emergency she cannot come talk to you unless the timer has gone off.

        I had one very similar.

I didn't mind too much because she was a great kid but after a while it did get exhausting.

Eventually, I set the timer and told her that until the bell rang, she wasn't allowed to talk to me but was free to talk to the other kids. Worked well because it taught her to spread her chattiness woth everyone rather than just focus on one person.

She was an only child so I figured it was just the way things were at home.

          "Go play."
As soon as she comes back - "go play."
She will figure it out. Don't feel bad.

LOL Thanks DaisyMamma, you gave me a good chuckle and some motivation to maybe be a little more stern with her ::
