Help With 3yr Old Talking Back

I am at a loss with my 3 yr old daycare child. For about a week now, she has been talking back with a terrible attitude. I've had her since she was 15 mos old, and this seems to be her new thing. When I ask her to do anything, she says "I don't want to". When she's done something, like taking a toy from another child, I try to speak with her and she says "Leave me alone, go away from me". I've spoken to mom and she is having trouble at home as well, and doesn't know what to do about it. She has a 5yr old sister at home, and I have heard some of the same phrases from her. I've only tried talking to her in these situations, does anyone else have any suggestions? Or is it something that just has to pass?

I have four 3-4 year olds doing this right now.

Personally, I base my discipline plan on the behavior, not the words since IMHO they are just now testing to see how powerful the phrases are.

If I say "Time to cleanup" and get "I dont want to" while they are running around picking up toys, I simply did not hear it .

If they say it, then refuse to clean up we move on to whatever is the first step on that particular childs discipline plan.
    - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

      We do that here, too.
