    I Hate It When...

I only have one dck, it's Friday, and I'm told the child will be picked up at 10am... And he's still here at 1:00.

I text DCD to see if I should feed dck lunch and DCD said he would be by after lunch....

Nothing like getting your hopes up. I expected a pick up by 2:00 today, why bother even getting my hopes up for no reason. It's so rude

In his defense, maybe he didn't know you only had one DCK today and figured it didn't really make a difference.
I know how you feel though.
I have a DCG who I have to watch like a hawk and I was looking forward to her being picked up at 3:30 yesterday only to have her leave at 4:45! I just kept waiting by the window for DCP to arrive. She is currently being punished for wrong doings here and has lost permission to play with the other DCKS in the playroom this week so she just sits with me upstairs for the afternoon doing quiet table activities. It is uncomfortable.

Call and see if someone from their pick up list can get the child. I would not be shy about letting them know that you had plans because they said the child would picked up early. It doesn't matter that your plans may be nothing more than sitting on the sofa basking in the silence!

Drives me batty that day care parents think providers have no life of their own.

I try to ignore when a parent says they are coming early. I just assume they will be here the whole time. If they do come early - great! After all, I'm getting paid whether they come early or on time.
With that said, in this case if I had one dck and dcp said they were coming at 10am - on a Friday - I would have been very disappointed.

It's a VERY rare occasion when a parent tells me their child will be picked up early and they actually ARE. How sad is that? Why is that even an issue for daycare providers? Are there really that many parents out there who are so completely disorganized and caught up in their own little worlds that they can't do what they say they are going to?? It's so annoying!

I like my parents who never tell me they are picking up early and just leave it as a suprise for DCK and I!

What time did the kid finally get picked up?

When you work in an office, you're often at the mercy of your boss, the client who happens to call just when you were trying to pack up, a meeting that runs late, etc. That being said I wouldn't mention my hopes of leaving early to my provider ahead of time except as something along the lines of "It's been a long week and today should be slow so I'm hoping to leave a bit early. If I get off early I'll text you when I leave work so you can warn my kiddo."

For that happen every single time the same parent says they will pick up early... no way! Like I said in my post it's VERY rare a parent says they will pick up early and actually do -I wasn't talking about one-off situations.
