10mo wakes up after a half hour to an hour with poop a couple times a week. He normally sleeps at least 3 hours. It's really irritating because he won't go back to sleep
I feel your pain. I'm not sure what it is about a dark, quiet room that encourages pooing::
Your guy sounds young, but for my older kids, I always would put them back down after changing the diaper. I kept it the same as if it was a night waking - no bright lights, talking, etc. I was quick and quiet and put them back down before they even realized I was in the room. Soemtimes it helped
The DCB just did the same thing again!
There is almost 2 hours of nap left and he doesnt want to go back to sleep he is crying.
I changed him quickly right in his bed and didn't say a word, didn't turn on the light. Grrrrrr
I have a DCB just like yours! Except he poops EVERY DAY. It seems that when he is asleep he is able to relax enough to poop in the first place. He is usually too busy when he`s awake. Every Monday I have to retrain him that naptime is naptime regardless of the bodily functions that take place. By about Tuesday afternoon he seems to get that getting changed does not equal getting up, but he puts up quite a fuss while he learns that. Thankfully everyone else has learned to sleep through it. Hope you find a solution for yours! I have a white noise machine in the room with my poopy boy to mask any sounds any of the kids would make to disturb one another.
I have the EXACT same issue with a 9 month old - poops himself awake every day for the last month or so. I've started going right in as soon as he cries, changing him without engaging with him at all, popping him in the Ergo and dancing him back to sleep, then I lay him back down. I can't get him back to sleep without the Ergo-dance, even though he can fall asleep on his own before the pooping.
I figure his pooping schedule will eventually change - my toddler daughter will poop every morning at 9:30 for 3 weeks or so, and then it switches to the afternoon. Nothin' you can do about it!
