    Any One Have/Use Scholastics Storia?

I am thinking about downloading the storia ap from scholastic. But was wondering if anyone has used it and what their thoughts were. I already have a kindle fire so I'm wondering if it is worth it, price and selection wise for children's books? Does the ap actually read to the child? Your thoughts and opinons are appreciated!

Well, I just tried to download it and it is not working. My husband said something about we have 64 bit something or other and storia isn't compatible with something or other. I don't know, but it looks like I can't get it I was looking forward to the ebooks... I might have to contact them and see if there is a resolution to the problem. There is nothing in their FAQ that helped. If anyone else had this problem, would love to hear how you all fixed it! Thanks

I tried downloading it on my Ipad last week and im not happy. I was excited about the reading aloud feature. Thought it would be great for my daughter in the car. BUT like you said above there are all kinds of problems and the read aloud feature doesn't work. Same as your hubby mine said something like "blah blah, blah blah blah, no adobe something, thats why people are mad, blah blah"

I was on the phone with them for an hour today and totally forgot to ask them about this issue.

      What problems are you having?

I also thought it stunk that I couldn't pick the 5 free downloads that i wanted. They gave me choices that my daughter wont be intrested in at 3

It won't even download. Or it will download but it's not there. I couldn't even get it to open the download window to run the program. But husband got it that far, but it was like it would download and then delete the whole program??? So I can't open it at all. i was thinking of trying it on the desktop, but we don't use it much. I really wish I could get it on my kindle fire, but I tried. It would be awesome as an android ap as well, so who knows. Maybe in the future. i will try it on my other pc during nap today, but I am not holding my breath. Which really stinks, because I realy liked the read to me part. Otherwise, i can just buy ebooks on my kindle kwim?

A reviewer in the I-tunes store says this:

"I read all the reviews before downloading the app knowing I could use this trick I recently learned. First download the app as you normally would. Next, shut down your device (i-pad/i-phone). then re-start your device and launch the app. Finally, create your account and set up your bookshelves. If you already have the app, delete it, shut down your device. Restart device and follow the steps above."

Also, the Storia app is NOT for use on Kindles. It is compatible on all iPad models running iOS 4.2 or higher and the following Android Tablets running operating systems Honeycomb 3.0+ and Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0+:

          •Samsung Galaxy 10" screen
          •Asus EEE Transformer 10" screen
          •Motorola Xoom 10" screen

For PC's you must meet the following system requirements:

•Windows 7, Vista, or XP (Service Pack 3)
•1024 x 768 screen resolution or higher preferred
•x86 or x64 1.6-gigahertz (GHz) or higher processor with 512 megabytes (MB) available space

I have a couple parents who use this app and LOVE it!

          Hope that helps.

            Have you seen this one?

It is really neat! A few of my teacher moms said they use this for lots of quick lesson plan ideas and for ideas to add to their current lesson plans.

I knew it wasn't for the kindle, but I had to at least try

I do have windows 7, 64x, and the available memory, but it stil isn't workind. No ipads or ianything here. So that isn't an option. I am hoping they make it available for the android phones soon. My husband has the Nexus 7, it just came out. Is it not compatible on that either? I'm not sure what he is running as far as gingerbread, honeycomb, or ice cream sandwhich (geez, are these people HUNGRy when they come up with these names!:

Thank you for the comment, Not sure why it isn't working. My destop also has windows 7. Not sure what the ghz is though. Will have to ask my husband. The resolution is good on both. They are both set up as gaming computers, so it has one of the highest graphics cards, and all the bells and whistles (that's all my husband too )

I think I am just going to have to call them and see if they can walk me through it. Thanks tho

I saw it, but it is only for ipad, iphone. I did get the preschool and kindergarten learning games ap for my phone. My daughter loves it. It asks to pick a green circle and then gives you 4 shapes of different colors. It does the same for numbers and letters. She really likes that one. I also have an ABC ap but she doesn't like that as much.

I just liked the idea of having the ebooks and her being able to use them whenever she wants. I also like that I don't have to store all the books. I love to read, so I have boxes and boxes of books that I am slowly getting rid of. I love the idea of having my books digitally so I don't have to store them all kwim? That's why i love my kindle. I have the original and the fire. My husband asked me if I wanted a tablet for xmas, but I just can't justify it when my fire can do what most tablets do. So it seems a waste of money inmo.

I wanted storia because we've always liked the scholastic books, they have a great selection, many times they are cheaper than the stores, and they have a huge selection even on their ebooks. That was another reason I wanted the storia app. I also loved that I could get points towards other items just for ordering them (or at least I think I can) AND I wanted the 10 free books!!!

I bought good night monster on my kindle last night and red it to the girls before bed. They both loved it!!! It was the cutest little book. My husband buys these books on his Nexus that reads to the children and you can click on things in the picture and it plays music or does a little thing. I have to see where he got them. It was the sleep book by Dr. Suess and another one. The kids absolutely LOVED them and I was hoping storia was something along those liones.

But I think I am babbling now. sorry

Okay, so I just tried downloading storia again and it worked, but how come I only got 5 books. I thought there was suppose to be 10?

Okay, I just started storia this evening and the other 5 books are there! And it is working and so far lily really likes it. So now I just need a set of child's headphones and I wonder if they make keyboard covers so the child can't bang on the keyboard? My laptop has slots for 3 sets of headphones, so that is kind of nice. I can have my own listening center!!! Woohoo!!!
