Hi all! I need some veteran opinions about what you do in sickness situations....sent my first child home in 3 1/2 years of doing daycare after she vomited once after being here for 3 hours this morning. She had been lazy this morning, just figured it was the weekend catching up with her, but also had no appetite this am. All the sudden heard her cough and there it was coming out between her fingers! Luckily she and I were both very close to the bathroom so she made the rest into the toilet! Good amount of bile was thrown up, some dry heaving, got her cleaned up and called mom, mom came within 40 mins, but in that 40 mins after we did Columbus Day activites and she seemed totally fine, started to get up and play. Just wondering if I jumped the gun, do you all send home after the first time or wait a little while?? Regulations say "vomiting" so I'm not taking any chances with it getting spread around, them being present and around others beforehand is bad enough.

Vomit once, go home. Even if only a little. Even if they are vomit prone. Even if they ate a ton of junk food. Even if.... you get the point.
Gross. Sorry you had to deal with that BTW- Flag

You are always best to err on the side of caution and send home whenever a child vomits.
Sorry you have to deal with it at all....vomit is my "one thing" I can NOT deal with very well.- Flag

You did the right thing. Vomit = go home. period. They also can't come back the next day.- Flag
