Letter To Parents Regarding Cooler Weather

Have any of you sent out a letter letting parents know that cooler weather is on the way?

In Cali the weather can fluctuate a lot and I want parents to know that we need to be prepared if it stays cold all day and not just in the morning.

How did you phrase your letter?

I send home a list every year with supplies that I expect to come to (and STAY at daycare) throughout the entire winter. I give a deadline when the items must arrives by - and if they aren't here by that date, the child and parent are sent out to fetch what is needed.

Maybe that's what I'll do is just make list of things to stay here. Good idea!

I used to allow items to come and go but someone always would forget something. And then I required that parents started going home WITH child to retrieve required items if they showed up missing something - but that was taking up too much time and causing too much disruption, so now parents must bring items here and keep them here all winter. If for any reason they refuse to do this (only had one family) they are sent home for the day (and still charged) if the child doesn't come dressed with full winter gear.

No, I figure that it's the parents responsibility to know how to dress their children. I do ask that they keep a sweatshirt here during the cooler months, just as I keep swimsuits during the summer.

I would just send home a note stating they should bring an extra jacket and warm blanket for the kids. Reminder outside play will still be taking affect and we want to keep everyone happy and healthy

the sad part is that one would think that the parents would automatically get it. They watch the news, they have internet, they have iphones, they KNOW what the weather will be, but yet they never seem to clue in on it.

I do send a letter home 4 times a year, each quater/season./ Yeah its true in Cali we really don't really have 4 season, but we do have crazy weather.....as I say crazy, jut like the people....

this is the type of stuff that I use my FB page for. All my parents use FB so a quick status update that the weather is changing and to please leave a sweatshirt/jacket here is all I needed - they all brought one in the next day! I don't fault them for not thinking about it when its 80 degrees by noon - they sometimes forget that we can go for walks early when it is still in the 50's! The quick, simple reminder is all they need.

I rarely have clothing issues. I did have one come in on Tues with long sleeved shirt and long jeans, with sock and tennis shoes. It was over 100*. I immediately changed her into a dress.

I sent the outfit home with Dad last night (parents are divorced) and he brought her back today in it. At least it's cooler today.

I know, you would think that parents would be more responsible. I check the weather everyday but not everyone does that I guess.

I'm just preparing for what I went through last winter with the littles. I had one that would come in a LIGHT zip up jacket that supposed to keep her warm in temps that were in the 40s in the AM. I had other days that a child had no coat (I DID have back ups). And hats? Yeah, i don't want a repeat of this again.

I am a mom that refuses to let my kids walk out the door with out the proper gear...coats, hats, pants that are appropriate, etc! I know you're all like me
