    Training Opportunities

    I was just wondering how many hours everyone had to get a year for training. I have to have 10 hours a year.

    Also, where do you get your training? Do any of you do online training and how do you like it. I've done care courses, training classes through our food program and I've also done a couple of weekend seminars that I really liked.

    We have to have a total of 30 hours in order to re-license every 3 years, so it equates to 10 hours per year.

    There are many different training workshops/college classes offered in our area that we can take. Lately, though, I've been taking mine online through Childcare Education Institute. I like them, it's less expensive for me than paying for workshops and it's so much easier to take in one of their trainings when I have the time vs. rushing out the door after a full day of day care to get to a workshop. I also do the trainings offered by the food program.

        In Iowa we have to take 12 every year but since I'm Childnet and QRS certified I have to take 16 a year. Two each year have to be in health and safety so I use the food program training for that, 6 each year have to be in a group setting so I take a couple of classes sponsored by Child Care Resource and Referral, the rest of the hours can be anything so I take Care Courses. I find them interesting, quick and worth the money.

          In Missouri we have to have 12 every year. Our required CPR and First Aid for now can count in those hours.

          Just in the past year have we been able to take approved online classes.

          I am doing Care courses to renew my CDA so that covers me plus some for this year but often we drive into St Louis for the Day when Applebaum comes to town. You can get 6 hours in one day.
          It:: will wait

              I'm looking at this website. Can you tell me more about it? Where exactly are the classes on this site? Is there a fee and how do you get your certificate? Thanks.
