What Should I Charge For Drop-In Rates?

I am logged out for privacy.

I provide childcare for one 2 year old, 6.5 hours a day $33.

She has asked if I would take her two boys, ages 4&5 for 4 hours one day this week.

    What should I charge??

I would charge drop in rates since after all, they ARE drop in kids right?

I know our first instincts as a provider are to try and be helpful but this is also your business and if these are not regularly enrolled kids then yes, you should absolutely charge a drop in rate.

I am sure the mom is expecting that as well since she knows too that they are drop in kids.

I say the same as BlackCat except for the fact that I don't think most moms expect to pay the going rate. I am finding that most of them EXPECT a discount. I think it is time for change LOLOLOL

I don't have drop in rates, per se, but my part-time rate is $20 for anything up to 4 hours. Yeah, a bit steep, but hey, i prefer full-time. So, for the two extras for 4 hours I would charge $40 total.

I normally charge $45 per day.

So for four hours this mom would pay $33 (2yrold) and $40 for 4&5 year old. That's $73!! As much as that appeals to me, I think that would be too much to ask...

Can you tell me what some of your drop-in rates are?

Your drop in rates should be more than you rpart time rates because drop in kids ARE tough and do throw your normal daily routine for a loop.

Have you actually watched these boys before? Do you have any idea if they are generally well behaved or if they are a hand full?

If you charge $45 a day for regular care, I guess I don't personally see that 23 more is that much to ask for drop in kids.

Also are you on the food program? If you are then any food served to them is also not being reimbursed to you so you have to add that cost in as well.

I think there are so many vents from people about drop in kids that you should definitely be thinking these kids just might be worth the $73 you would charge and maybe even more....ya never know...

FWIW~ my drop in rate is also about $25 more than my regular rate per day.

My daily rate is $20/day. drop in is $6/hr up to 4 hours. then its $25/day. I also only charge in whole hour increments. so 3 hrs and 15 min is still $24.00.

ditto the others, drop in is usually more than part time, which is more than full time. and partial day comes out to more potter hour than the other rates as well.

think of it this way...if you had three full time kids at the $33/day rate, you'd make $99...so $75 is bargain!

I decided that since I will only have her three children, plus my own that I would charge her $12 an hour. That's $48 for a 4 hour period. I will still have the afternoon to spend with my children when they get home from school.

                  Did I charge too little??
