My kids would do the same thing when they were little - want to play, but scream and cry when getting hair washed. It got to the point where I would tell them that they could only play, *if* I could wash their hair/bodies first without screaming or they were out of the tub. It's been a long time, and I do recall having to take the oldest out after she got washed for screaming. I think that may have helped end the drama.
But I typically only did every other night because no matter how much running/digging, etc we did, they were not so dirty that a warm washcloth at night didn't take care of it. Plus they both have senstive skin and bathing everyday at that age isn't usually recommended.

We do every 3 or 4 days too. We see a pediatric dermatologist for my kids eczema and psoriasis. He recommends once or twice a week for younger than puberty age. Of course we wash hands and faces regularly and bath as necessary depending on messy activities.

Every day for my 4, 6, 10 & 12 year olds. I wish some of my dcp's bathed their kids more often. They SMELL sometimes. We play outside everyday, we get sweaty, we paint, play with playdoh, etc. It's just plain gross to go to bed with dirt in your hair.

I'm amazed to see so many on here to don't believe in daily bathing for wee ones! Yay!

We do two or three times a week, but it varies based on season, activities, and whether or not I manage to do it before the toddler is falling asleep in my lap.

We have quick baths and play baths, too, in our house and it works wonders even though the older child gets upset sometimes when it's not a play bath. I try to warn her well ahead of time that it's only a quick bath night because she takes awhile to warm up to ideas she doesn't like.

I often clean the bathroom while the kids are playing :P Kills two birds with one stone!

Sometimes we have a week where a bath becomes necessary every night...

Every day! Sometimes twice a day depending on if we go outside or have a messy meal time.

Typically every day during the summer because she plays outside a lot and winds up with sand in her hair and dirty, stinky feet. In the winter, every other day is plenty.
