    Child Who Doesn't Watch TV

We went to pretty much no tv time unless I'm making lunch. Today we are having some as preschool was a no go as everyone is late.

I have one child and I've always noticed this but thought maybe once we had none it would change but this child will not watch tv no matter what we have on. All they want to do though is bug the other kids. I have to bring them into another area if I'm busy making breakfast/lunch/snack as they will start causing fights and such.

Has anyone here ever had a non tv watcher?

I have one now, but he is only 15 months old. Same here, they are allowed to watch TV during arrival/breakfast time and while I am preparing lunch. He could care less about the TV and has never ever been interested, but he is into EVERYTHING instead, so he is usually contained in a pack & play or highchair.....

If it were an older child, I would make them sit in the kitchen with me. Hopefully they will start to understand why they are there and maybe the boredom of that will help them to behave instead.

I have and it is so annoying! I just want 20 minutes out of the 10 hours a day you are here to make your lunch in peace, and you have to walk all around the house bothering everyone.

They are 3 and being put at the table really doesn't bother them. I just think its odd they watch nothing (great but odd). Wouldn't be bad if they didn't bother everyone.

Some people just aren't tv people, and I don't think it's something you can force. However, bothering others is not ok, so while I wouldn't present it as a huge punishment, I would give him an activity near you/away from the tv watchers.

Not really. It's so rare here that when it's on, everyone is enthralled I can almost hear them "wow, she actually turned it on! Quiet, quiet everyone, quiet! Just in case she changes her mind!"::
I don't allow tv for under 2, so they are in with me. I would think they wouldn't watch even if I did.

Yes, this is a constant bugger to! Very hard to get them to concentrate on anything except bugging people. Teases kids alot, bugging them, and talk non stop constantly.

LOL!! :: I get that here alot too. We are normally NOT a TV daycare but every once in a blue moon I turn it on and the kids are all so "attracted" to it that it reminds me of one of those blue lights that lures bugs in so they can get zapped!

It IS funny to watch them staring like they have never seen anything so cool before! ::

We don't do tv at all here. I have my lunches pre prepared and just have to heat it up and serve. On days when I am making sandwiches and such, I have them play playdough, color, use the foam beads or have an older child use the white board while the others have to guess what they are drawing.

yesterday I got a movie from scholastic. the kids acted like they were starving mountian lions eating for the first time in a month...

Our TV only plays music....so that is what I tell them....hahahha

I don't do tv, but if I needed it to keep kids occupied and one or two was not, I would have them sitting at a table with the art box. Right where I could lay my hawk eyes on them.....muahhahhahahaha

i have the tv on all day here and no one watches it here (go figure) but the minute I turn it off they all know, its the background noise that they like. My own kids were not into tv when they were little (some days I wished they were) but then it could be like my niece who is so glued to the tv, that she now has speech problems because she talks like sponge bob.
