Still Scared 15 Month Old - Normal?

I have a 15 month old who I have had since mom returned to work at 10 weeks. She is great 99.9% of the time.... Until.... someone enters the home. Anyone, my husband, my MIL, my own mom, other kids parents, my food program lady.... you get the point. Wait, even her own gma when we see her at the park by accident....

This kid will literally scream the entire time. EVERYDAY!!!! Hours if the person stays that long. No matter what I do. Hold her, put her in living room to play with other kids, feed her, put her outside (I sit on deck with her, guest sits in kitchen so we can still see each other and chat but dck can play).

Is this normal? It started about 8 months old. Typical. But now it's Sep anxiety that has lasted well over 6 months.

Wtd? My other parents hate it when they drop off or pick up because she freaks. The second they are gone she is fine.

My DD did this until she was about 18 months old. Then it stopped almost overnight. We jokingly called it 'stranger danger mode'. Our provider at the time was very patient and said a lot of the kids had done similar things. She used to take DD to the door with her and make a game out of it. One of my current LO's doesn't like when people come in the house. He cries for a few minutes and then stops. What you are experiencing may be my future. Yikes. Good luck!

I don't know about the screaming issue as I've never dealt with a true screamer. But it definitely is age appropriate to be scared of anyone they are not super familiar with- from age 9 mos to 2 yrs in my experience.

Have you tried distracting her during pickup and dropoff times? Is there anything she loves or gives her comfort for these times?
