    Friday Gripe...

    Background:
Mom calls this morning after she left to tell me she plans to pick up DCB early to take him to the Dr. for hacking cough. She mentioned coming to get him at 12:15 (He's here from 7am-5:30 every day) (She also warns me, depending on what the Dr. says, she will probably bring him back afterward so he can nap here... not that I care, she's just messing up my schedule today. She's also sick so she probably wants to go home to rest).

Me: "You're picking up DCB right as I'm serving lunch.

DCP: "Well, that's problematic, I need to be at Dr.'s office by 1, how can we resolve this?"

ME: "I will have lunch ready by 12:10, whatever he doesn't eat can be packed up and brought with you, that's the best I can do."

DCP: "I will be there at 12:30, I hope I'm not late."

Should I have said you'll be responsible for providing your son lunch? I have to be at the bus stop at 11:50 for a noon Kindergarden pick-up and I have an infant who will need a feeding. I typically have lunch prepared before, just put finishing touches after bus stop. This conversations just rubbed me the wrong way. I have been doting on her precious hacker, asking him repeatedly to stay away from the baby and she sent this?? Ugh!

I will take your hacking kid if you take my neighbors getting a new roof put on day #3! At least the trailer is no longer parked outside my playroom window with them throwing bricks and slate in it at 1:00 right smack in the middle of naptime. Today is really just hammers... not toooo bad. And i only have 2 today. But, I will be happy when they are done!!!
Hopefully, your mom was there and it all worked out. And hopefully, he doesn't have anything highly contageous!!!!!

If a child needs to go see a doctor for something relating to an illness, he shouldn't be in care at all. I also do not allow parents to pick up their child and return them to care.

One drop off and pick up per day per child.

As far as lunch goes my conversation would have gone like this:

Me: "You're picking up DCB right as I'm serving lunch.

DCP: "Well, that's problematic, I need to be at Dr.'s office by 1, how can
      we resolve this?"

ME: "Well I guess you will have to be responsible for lunch then"

I don't make changes to my daily schedule or routine to suit a parent. The rest of the children depend on our routine and to modify it or change it due to one parents scheduling is not going to happen.

I don't allow the doctor to give permission for a child to return to care. I only require the doctor to diagnose. I decide if a child can be admitted back in to care.
