An actual post on the classifieds in my town:

looking for babysitter for 5 days a week for roughly 8 hours a day. we are a low income family willing to pay 170 a month for 2year old boy.

The going rate here is $6 per hour for licensed although unlicensed are doing $35 a day. Think she'll get someone?

Crazy, I charge $175.00 a week. About average here. Im sure someone is desperate for a job and may take it....but its slim to none.

I agree...totally ridiculous!!! That's less than $50 a WEEK,not even $10 a day. I charged $125 a week when I did childcare in my home and that was a DEAL!

Well gosh, since they're low income and all, and actually willing to pay $170 a month, shouldn't we just jump right on that....::

That's around 8 dollars per day. I think that people just don't think about it hourly/daily when they make these posts on CL. I'd like to think they don't, anyway.

If they are that low of an income family then they would get state paid childcare. That's crazy
