    Can Someone Recommend Toddler Chairs?

I need to order about 6 chairs for my daycare table that will work for 1-5 year olds but willostly be used by 2-3 year olds. I need them to be sturdy (even if adults sit on them once in awhile) and easy to clean. I like these but it doesn't say what size goes for what age group.

I just ordered and received these chairs from Discount School Supply. I cater to kids 0-5 so I needed chairs for that age group. I've had them for a week and I LOVE them. I ordered 8 of the 9" ones in green.

    Here are my likes:

    * my 1yo's can sit down on them by themselves
    * they have low armrests so the 1yo's don't slip out
    * my 7 yo can sit in them comfortably even though she's low to the grown
    * no exposed metal parts (no rusting)
    * all one piece which means they are easy to clean
    * stackable
    * light weight, made of sturdy plastic

They are so sturdy that my DH used one as a stool at it withstood even his weight (he's not a small guy). I havn't had any bad experiences yet and I don't have anything bad to say about them except that they run for $15.95 a chair plus tax and shipping. I still think that it's totally worth it.

I use the ikea stools. They are sturdy enough that I use them to stand on when I can't reach something. I've had them for years (I just bought the green round table this weekend) and I love them. Inexpensive and sturdy

I have some (i believe they are 13"but could be mistaken) blue plastic chairs made by ecr4kids, I purchased them on walmart.com. I have only been open a few months but they are holding on great. They clean easily, very sturdy, light enough for the littles to push around and strong enough for some of my more"blessed"visitors. I love how my sa kids found them so obnoxious to tip that they rarely even tried. I have the matching table and love the legs but the top is too easily scratched. But when I finally need a new one I'm just going to put the legs on a board of laminate or something to save money.

Thanks - I will check out that link!

I really like the idea of the stools. Not only are they less expensive but I could push them under the table to get them completely out of the way. The only thing I am wondering about is the 12-18mos - would they fall off backwards? I guess they would learn.

              I have these....

have had them for over 10 years and they look as good as new!!! Only thing I don't love is there are some crevices that can collect dust. Every once in a while though I just hose them all down outside so its not an issue.

I bought mine in a few different leg heights to fit the different ages of my group but they all still work at the table. Love that I can stack them in a corner!

Low sturdy stools actually work great for the younger kids. The younger the child, the better they work. Offer a chair to a 1yo and ask him to get on and see what happens ... normally the child grabs the sides or back of the chair, puts his/her knees on the seat, turns slightly, pulls one leg out to sit on his/her bottom, then finally outstretches his/her other lg into the finally seated position. Usually they start facing the chair then finally end facing outwards.

Stools are great because they don't do that. Round stools especially. It doesn't matter which side they start with either. With round stools they walk up to it, turn their bottom towards it and simply slide on or sit down. Our VERY nice RIE center has nothing but stools for their infant and toddler programs and the kids all need no help sitting down or getting up. I don't have a lot of space in my home and use my back patio as part of the DC space so I personally needed something that could withstand the outside elements which is why I chose the plastic chairs.

Once I have more space and can have my large table inside then I plan on switching to sturdy low round stools too .

I have several stools and all my kiddos over a year use them. None of them have ever fallen off backwards as I think they kind of see they can't lean back on them when they are climbing on them.

They are also very easy to store too as they can hide under the table like you mentioned or they stack pretty easy as well.
