What IS It With A Full Moon????

UGH! I can tell it's almost full again! In fact, this is a Blue Moon this month - anyone notice that? So cool, but two full moons in one month is almost more than I want to handle! :::::: Thankfully, that means we don't have another one til late next month. Life's little blessings......

My dh just told me about the blue moon! I can't complain today, my kids were all excellent. Of course it was a party day today (last full day of summer that I will have all of the kids at one time) and nothing much was expected of them so Im sure that helped!

We were supposed to have a "Movie day" today, and out of 5 kids, only 1 stayed to watch the movie past a few minutes!!! Usually movie day is one of their favorites! But today, they just seem to want to act totally out of hand. :::::: It's actually been rather comical. I tried to do a craft and they lasted about 5 mins at that, too. (NOT typical with most of my kids). It's just one of those days here....

Only 1 of my kiddos is a movie watcher (out of the younger bunch, the SA kids would sit allllll day if I let them) so I don't even attempt to offer any screen time. We will see what tomorrow brings, but I fully expect there to be Friday madness in my house

What is a blue moon? I did notice the full moon last night but it was the normal color. My kids haven't actually had issues this time.

The blue moon is actually the second full moon in a month. It doesn't happen very often, less than once per year. There are actually different definitions of a "blue moon", but this is the commonly accepted one.

I wonder how much if any research has been done as to why the full moon affects people so much? Maybe I should put my science degree to use! ::::::

I think there has been research done but most studies indicate there is no connection to the full moon and odd behavior. Totally flies in the face of my experience, though! Before opening my day care, I worked for years in the customer service department of a nationally known company. I always knew when the full moon was a week away because the crazies would come out of the woodwork! All of a sudden we would start getting really off-the-wall questions and complaints, calls from totally irate customers who were upset over the smallest of problems, customers demanding to speak with the owner, supervisors, ceo, etc. Complaint calls went way up. As soon as the full moon hit, everything calmed right down - until the following month, a week away from the full moon! There was definitely a monthly cycle. I used to dread going to work the week before the full moon.

When she was alive, my mother worked as a teacher's aide. She swore by the full moon theory. She could also tell we were in for a bad storm before the weathermen predicted it just based on the kids' behavior.
