    Is this normal?

    HELP, need advice!

I have a new little baby girl that just started a month ago. She is 4 months old and she is the first child for her parents.

Her mom texts me like 25 times a day to check on her, ask if she slept, if she ate, when she slept, when she ate, is she ok...etc...it goes on and on and on.

I feel that I already go out of my way to send photos of her daughter and text her back to reassure her but it's getting ANNOYING! Today she stopped by on her lunch hour to see her and ended up staying for 45 minutes and feeding her lunch etc. It messed up my schedule.

If she misses her daughter so much, maybe she just needs to quit her job and stay home with her! I am about ready to get rid of her because of this. It's always the parents who ruin it!

ADVICE??? (By the way, she is a VERY nice person, just annoying).

    Thanks!

OMG I have had a parent like this a little while back. When I wouldn't answer her text right away she would text me a "?" it would tick me off!

I had to explain to DCM that I have other children that I am attending to and that the baby is fine. She kept texting AND texting. It was extreme. I finally termed (there were many other issues in this case).

Good luck. Hopefully if you talk to the DCM about this she will understand. The DCM I had just didn't get it.

I just went through that with one mom.

It didn't phase me, I responded when I could and didn't when I was busy. She came every day to nurse at lunch time for the first couple of months. When summer came and we started going on outings, she would come whenever we were home. Now she texts once or twice a day. I knew it would slow down.

you need to be clear about what you will and will not allow. how many texts IS okay? Is coming by at lunch okay? Are you willing to do a daily sheet so mom can see at the end of the day, what baby's day was like? You need to communicate again what you can and cannot do. Let mom know that if it is not enough, than your daycare is not the right fit for her needs.

            Draw your hard lines.

How many texts are ok? How many phone calls? Can she stop by? What times? How long can she stay?

Write it out for her and she will either agree or pull.

use baby connect .com , tell her you update at 11am and 3/4 pm and she can check on there and not worry she is in good hands.

just like sharlan said it will slow down if you stop responding to every message.

As for the lunch time visits, I have in my policy if you come to visit with your child make it brief as not to upset our program and schedule. You will also need to take your child with you when you leave. No child likes to have to say twice in one day and it's only very confusing to them to have this inconsistency.

If she is nursing the baby, is there a separate part of the house that she can sneak in and out of so that it does not bother everyone else???

For the texts I would take one of two actions:
                  1. Tell her up front, Ya know, I can't spend so much time responding to all of your texts because it takes too much away from the kids. I'll answer you once, at naptime when I have a minute, but that is it unless there's an emergency. Otherwise, I'm caring for the children.

                  2. Tell her that you had to change the texting plan on your cell phone and you no longer get free texts and each superfluous one she sends you will cost her $1. Or $.10 if you're feeling nice but I'd go for $1. I know, I know, but it could work...

You could also go the Baby Connect route. I've used it before and like it a lot.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I'd go with option #1 here.

For one, honesty is best and two, this mom needs to realize her child is in GROUP care not with a nanny.

I also LOVE the babyconnect option. My parents (of infants) who are working and busy love it!
