    I Want To Build This!

    What would I need to do to make it up to licensing specs--as in, how high would I need to make the railings on the top? I want it to be a reading loft/playhouse. Probably wouldn't put a mattress up on top, but would put carpet and big pillows, with rain gutter bookshelves on the wall behind.

          I've seen people do things like this with a loft bed from Ikea that is kinda similar (smaller i think). Although I'm not sure what the bed costs so it may be easier to build your own. I really like that link you posted though! Super cute idea!

            I have always wanted to have our reading center on the top part of a loft. Unfortunately licensing would make us gate the stairs and that would defeat the purpose of the kids being able to get up there on their own.

                railing needs to go up to the ceiling

                you need a hand rail on the stairs and I bet you need some sort of padding at the bottom of the stairs.
                It:: will wait

                    I looked at this post yesterday and thought about it all night! LOL. My daughter has a bunk bed like that that she doesn't want anymore. We took out the bottom bunk and she uses it like a loft bed. On the side where the stairs are, there are drawers that could be used for dress up, etc. So in my case I would just need a couple of pieces of plywood and railings!

                    Anyway, the whole point of my post is that you might be able to find a bed like mine on craigslist for cheap and make it off of that so much easier.
