I can't wait till my 3 school age kids get back to school jessusss!!!!! I have one 10 year old who always opens her mouth at pick up when OTHER parent s pick up their kids she goes on without even being talked to and tells the parent every single detail of our day like if dck cried, ate, fell, hit, played, colored, etc.! and does not give me a chance to even tell the parents a thing it is soooooo annoying. anyway today i tell her when parents arrive she needs to not interrupt us and let us talk as adults... so anyway another parent comes to pick up their kid and she starts to talk and then later in front of a DCM she says "see im being quiet!!!" and dcm says "oh why she cant talk?" i say "she can talk i just need her to not interrupt when we are talking!" and i turned blush red with embarrassment.... oh summmmer

I would tell this child that it's not her responsibility to inform the parents of the child's day. The parents pay you, not her. If that didn't work, I wouldn't allow her to interact with the parents at all.

I turn, face the child and say. " excuse me Jordan, you may go sit at the table until I finish talking to Mrs. Wilson. You may not interrupt conversations.". Then I turn back to mom and continue talking. If child keeps offending I excuse myself from the conversation momentarily, and escort child to table. Then return to conversation.

Here I have a rule for all children.

When mommies and daddies come in they are to remain where they are and not bother me. I have trained them from the time they start here. It does not take long! At first you will need to be firm and may need to excuse yourself from the parent and take the child back to where he/she was.

I say gently to the child "Go Back! I am talking to a mommy! When there is a mommy here you need to be quiet until they leave!"

I will say this in front of parents, not a problem for me.

If parents can not understand then perhaps you need to explain to the parent that you have x number of kids and this is how you keep order! All kids like to interupt when another person comes into the house.

Mine do not do it!
