Almost There!

Last week in the current day care house before we open in our re-done basement.

It's total chaos at both places right now, as we move everything around, but I am strangely calm. I am so looking forward to no school kids (Ok..one KG little guy, but he's adorable) My big pre-teens are gone.

Hubby has become very excited and instead of me checking with HIM before I charge up a storm on new stuff...HE'S the one doing it! I love it! lovethis He's ordered new cubbies, new wall decor, new books etc......he's really excited about this! We 're going to save a grundle by moving home, so I hope he doesn't spend all the savings..::

The basement is freshly painted, the carpets have been heavy duty cleaned by a truck mounted company and look great.

I am ready for this new chapter in our lives and so looking forward to spending much more time around my family.

Yes...we've remodeled our basement in our home and are selling the day care house. It'll give me soooo much more time with my family as well as saving us a significant amount of money each month.

I would love to have another home for my childcare as I feel its over taken my personal home. The one thing though is this is for income and having it somewhere else would take almost all my earnings!

We feel blessed in that we will be able to "leave the daycare behind" when we go upstairs. I have enjoyed home and work being separate, but missed my family due to long hours. This will give me the best of two worlds. Everything daycare related downstairs and family upstairs. Our basement has it's own outside door etc, so parents will never step foot in my "home".

I suppose it makes a difference how many kids you can have and what your expenses are both in your own home and the home you use for child care.

I make a great living doing this even though I have two homes with two sets of bills. Electric company, phone, internet, heat, lawn/snow removal etc etc. I have made a decent income every year I have been in the business.

There is a perfect home right down the street from me-rents about $900 a month. Electric runs me about $300 a month-majority is from childcare. Water is about $130 a month in the summer-goes sky high from watering! Sewer is about $25 a month and I'm not sure about internet. Right there is almost 1/2 of my income and that with 10 children! Rent is pretty high in this area and you sometimes don't get a whole lot.

I have my daycare in my basement apartment and I have an enclosed porch so I live right upstairs! I love that I can clean and close my daycare doors and I dont have to think about it until the next day.

That is HIGH! My daycare house payment is in the 555 range....bi weekly payment so I hardly notice it at all!! MY electric/garbage/water was the highest ever in 8 years this month 155 gas-internet-and tv all for about 200. This daycare supports its self, me, and my mother well qith 12 kids.

Funny how different things are in different parts of the country. My own house payment is even less.

I am sure there are families who pay more but the two DCF's I have in care currently pay $0 and $99 per month for housing depending on their monthly income.

My heat/light/water run me about $60-80 monthly. Internet and phone service is about $60 monthly. I do not use garbage service as I recycle EVERYTHING........So like MsMe, my child care supports itself and brings me a nice little income as well.

Houses must be dirt cheap in your areas! We looked at a forclosure a few years ago. It was for $180,000 and we bid up to about $200,000 it went for around $210,000. I think they were wanting about $30,000 down (I just happened to have that tucked away in change-::::: and the payment a month was still going to be like $1100 a month. The original price was something like $400,000 or something!
