    Toooo Hot in So. Cal

For ALL of my so. Cal daycares out there, how are you handling this incredible heat? We have been trying to get out early in the morning and have been skipping our afternoon outdoor time because of the excessive heat.

What have you been doing to keep kiddos entertained? We are running out of options.

I'm on the coast so it's warm but not too warm. We play with water, eats lots of fro. yo. Play outside in the am and late afternoon. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I'm not in So. California, but how hot has it been? We're finally getting a little cool down (90s) from the 110-112 degree temps we'd been having. It was only 75 yesterday when we went out in the morning; it felt amazing!

With the temps 100+, I only took the kids outside right after breakfast. Even then, the temps were still insanely hot (80s and humid). Driving in my van one night at 9pm, the temp was still 103. We are allowed small wading pools, so I let the kids play in the pool.

Other than the pool, we just didn't have a choice but to stay inside. My playground equipment was too hot to play on. We had a child who got burnt on a plastic slide at a park ( slide was over 120 degrees).

We are going to be in the 90's next week and everyone is so excited. We are so tired of overcast mornings (warm but dreary looking) and then the sun comes out everyday right when we are laying down for nap-. Sometimes still in the 50's late in the morning.

Next week we are doing lots of water play, popsicles, laying in the shade-summer stuff. We can't wait!happyface

Where are you in the IE? The highest we've hit is 103.

We go out in the AM and stay inside after lunch. Today we packed up and went to the Aquarium of the Pacific.

I'm in the San Joaquin Valley. Right now, it's 108 degrees and it was just reported on the news that it's possible to go up in the next hour. The concern isn't humidity (13%) but the air quality. I have to watch that since my son has asthma, as do so many people here.
We went to McD's for lunch and to play on the indoor play area. Afterwards, I let the kiddos have more screen time than usual. In addition to the heat, they are passing a cold back and forth, so they don't have as much energy as usual.
Tomorrow is supposed to be worse!

We have bad smog, but I think yours is worse.

I've had 3 with bad colds and pink eye, one with a little cold all week. I ended up with the pink eye, hope it stops there. I know what you mean about them being less energetic.

I'm in Arizona and it's been hitting 117 this week . By 6/7 am, it's already between 95 and 100. Unfortunately, with the heat warnings, we haven't gone outside all week . I really hope the heat breaks soon to below 110 because we are all getting cabin fever! Even if I get out right after breakfast, it's already between 100 and 110!

This was taken in my car this evening as we got in (at 6 pm):

                      Holy guacamole!

I'm going outside to hug the 75 degrees that we've had the past two days. Heck, I'd hug 90 with low humidity right now, compared to that!
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

We've been enjoying a balmy 86-90 degrees for the past few days, compared with the usual 103+ for this time of year.

We do have a problem with humidity here - 70% humidity can turn 90 degrees into 105 very quickly .
