for those of you that do recitals

I am going to be having an open house for new and existing clients with a small BBQ following after. The kids have all learned a dance routine which they will preform for the parents at some point during the day.

For those of you that do recitals, when is the best time to do them for the kids? I thought about having them do it towards the end of all of our activities, right before the BBQ, but then wondered if they would all be to distracted or tired.

I have been thinking about it for awhile, and I am not too sure when the best time is. the kids ages range from 20month to age 5.

oh yeah, the event starts at 3:30pm and goes until 6......

I think I would do it first thing. have someone extra help you keep the kids in one area because once they get turned loose with parents, it will be hard to get that focus back. you could tape it and replay it if some parents cant be there till later.

I'm thinking right away too. They may be all wound up if you wait too long.

I agree with the rest. Let the recital be your main event. Food and socializing afterwards. Just make it plain to the parents that you are starting at say.. 3:45 sharp. Don't let anyone make you drag it out longer. The kids will go bananas, scatter and you'll have trouble roping them in.

What fun! What music are you using?
