Um, I take pride that I am not the cheapestSeriously, you get what you pay for and my children get well cared for. Since I have to submit my set rates to the state for them to base my pay on (I can't charge them any more than private pays) I would think that would be difficult if you were "beating any rate".
I personnally want the parents that are willing to pay me a decent rate because ultimately they are the ones who want to spend time with their kids. That I don't have to justify holidays paid off etc to. I would never try to match someone elses rates.- Flag

I think they won't stay around long, or they will jump up the price once they get established and find out they are working for peanuts.
I don't worry about what other daycare's are charging and doing. I set my prices and do what I want. I too take pride.

Ugh...that ****s! The rates here are kind of dependent on what the state pays for families on assistance and since you can't charge state assisted families more than private pay, most providers here just keep their rates the same as the state.
The state figures those rates by doing a child care rate survey and there is always that one provider who has th e lowest rates possible.
Low enough to make the average pay lower so we all get screwed.
I don't think they (the low paid provider) always does it to get more clients but sometimes because they really don't need the income but want to do something productive while at home or just to bring in pocket money if DH's has a great job or something.
We have a lady down the street from me who charges 50 cents per hour and does it just for BINGO money....gee thanks- Flag

There is a lady on Craigslist here that is offering care from 5am-5p Mon-Fri for $75 a week.I couldn't believe it! I feel under paid at $100 a week but I started low because I was new and wanted to get kiddos in. Plus I was totally uneducated on the whole in home daycare world. Now I want to up my fee to $120-$125 but I don't know how and what to say to parents. It really ****s.
