Show me your "parent board" please!!!

If you have an area near the door for parent communication, notes, etc. can you tell me about it or post a pic if possible???

I have not found anything for my spot, so I am probably going to make something myself but I need some ideas because I really don't know what I want!

I think I want a dry erase board, but I want it to look more sophisticated than the ones I see in stores. I would probably like it to be magnetic too. I don't think I want a chalkboard but maybe. I made a magnetic chalkboard in my playroom so I know I could do that if needed but I'm not crazy about how the chalkboard spray paint worked out.

I don't want it real "kid" looking. I have this table there - holds kids spare clothes, lunch boxes, daily sheets, etc.



so I want something above it that compliments it a bit. Any ideas??? Care to share your parent area???

I personally would do the magnetic chalkboard with an awesome frame around it. Your probably not going to find a white board that will fit there decorative wise.

I would probably make the white board if I did one - I can't find a premade one the way I want. I'd probably prefer a white board over chalk for writing but I think I'd like the dark color of a chalkboard. So I can't decide!!

I made this magnetic chalkboard in my playroom with a dark wood frame - but as I said, I don't love the chalkboard spray paint I used, not sure if I just didn't do enough coats or maybe a brush on one would have been better. Can't find a great pic of it but you can kind of see it here w/magnets all over it...


I can make something like that (smaller) again or I can make the same type of thing with a whiteboard finish instead.

first off, I love that unit, something I would buy for my house. I would buy a black board, the one that is magnetic and you can write on it (I bought mine at staples) then go and find a frame and spray paint it either a brown to match or a green, but the frame around the black board, this way it acts as a writing board but its also a nice wall picture.

I really want one of those blacklight restaurant/bar menu things (that they write on with marker). Just because it would look really neat all neon!

How about something kind of like this-maybe with just one frame instead of multiple? It's just a frame with scrapbook paper behind the glass, dry erase markers will work right on the glass!

I am actually doing something similar for my own kids -3 separate frames using the glass as a dry erase for notes/school stuff, etc. I found that idea on pinterest too!

they do sell black "dry erase" boards now with neon markers! Not a true "light up" board but pretty cool looking too.

This post has made me buy a cork board so I can have a parent board now too...As soon as the hubster gets it up on the wall and I do a little decorating then i'll post a pic or two
