Gave me coupons???

What do you all make of this???

DCM has given me coupons a couple times before. Once, she gave me an Old Navy coupon, asked me if I shop at Old Navy. She had a really good coupon but it expired like that very day or the next and she was going out of town. Gave me the coupon but I didn't have time to use it either.

Second time, she gave me coupon for a fancy thermometer after we'd both been saying how we weren't satisfied with the ones we had, then she found one she liked so gave me a coupon for it too. Thoughtful right?

Today, she came in carrying a stack of glossies and asked me if I cut coupons, I said, no not really. And she said oh well I had a ton, and gave me the big stack of coupons to be cut.

???? I think I feel appreciated???? Odd????

I had a dcm who always brought me stacks of coupons, literally a bag full at times...whichever ones she didn't need. I thought it was awesome! She even sent me a coupon for Poise pads (at the end of my pregnancy) with a note attached about how she preferred using them to regular pads after she had her own baby. I was happy that she passed on the savings to me!

I have a coupon folder at the entrance to my daycare. It's shared, all parents can bring or take. I have some who use it all the time, they bring me diaper coupons and take pull ups coupons weekly! Another family takes the diaper coupons, etc. So anything you can't use, pass on!

I give my parents coupons for items I know they use (Huggies, Pull-Ups, etc.).

Did she expect you to cut them all out for her during the day? No way--- I don't have time for that. If she expects that you just need to tell her thanks but no thanks, I really don't have time or want to take the time to do that.

I too share coupons with parents. I think with the prices so high on food and items these days, many people are cutting and using coupons. Shows on Tv make it look easy. I do see more people out and about shopping with notebooks and folders with coupons organized. Me with my little bundle. Makes me want to ask if they have one for the item I am looking for. Cost cutting. I shaved $30 off my grocery bill using coupons. I also only use what I am going to buy. Thirty dollars doesn't sound like much, but x that by four and you have $120 in savings a month. X that by 12 and you have $1,440 off your grocery bill a year. I can do a lot with that money!!! Trick is too only buy stuff you normally would buy and not buy something just because you have a coupon for it.

I think this parent is just being nice and reaching out to you with her kindness.

I don't think it's odd, unless she was asking you to cut them for her use.

I don't use a lot of coupons because I try not to buy packaged foods, but I do use them for personal items and such. I usually hang on a bulletin board any diaper, pull ups, wipes, formula, etc coupons that I get and they are free for the taking or if they can't use them, but knows of someone else who can, please take them!

I also will sometimes leave them on the shelf at the store next to the item. If I'm not particular about a brand of soap or shampoo, I will just take all the coupons I have for the item and see what the best deal is and leave the rest for someone else.
