    Immediate Termination

What are some of your reasons for immediate termination?

Two times I have immediately terminated and both were for excessive, aggressive behavior. One was a child that I had had for awhile and he just escalated so far and so fast, I could not handle him. The other was a child on their second day and both days were filled with this one child just going after the other kids all day.

Aggressive behavior is the big reason for immediate termination here. Thankfully, I have never run into any other further issues that required it.

lets see, I had a 4 yr old who cried all day everyday for 2 months straight. No matter what I did he just wouldn't stop.

second was the kid who I had so many issues it was crazy, but the last straw was when at the age of 3.5 yrs old he decided to whip his weener out and pee all over my ds's room. So when I went to charge his parents for cleaning fee they refused so I termed.

These are possible reasons for termination. Depending on the family and the exact situation, termination may or may not include a two week notice.
        • Disrespecting or physical/verbal abuse to others/home
        • Failure to pay in a timely manner
        • Child's behavior
        • Repeated Late pick up/ drop off or No Shows
        • Lack of compliance with handbook policy regulations
        • Failure to complete the required forms
        • Lack of parental cooperation
        • Failure of child to adjust to the child care
        • My inability to meet the child's needs
        • Serious illness of child or provider
        • False information given by parent either verbally or in writing

Personally, I think a two week notice is only a courtesy and if the behavior (of child OR parent) is bad enough that I want them gone or vice versa, I would prefer that they just leave immediately.

I have only termed one family immediately and that was a baby who cried non-stop and I just couldn't take it any more. I have changed policies and conveniently not had space available so that a family simply chose not to come back but only one immediate termination.

I've only gave an immediate termination once, that was for a serious false accusation.

I have only done it twice in 20 years but they were for:

False allegation but they wanted to keep bringing their kid. I told her no because I wasn't gonna open myself up for more allegations.

Other time dcm showed up about 2 hours late with no phone call. I had an appt so had left the kids with hubby. When she showed up he told her not to come back.

I only termed two people immediately.

              1. Child screamed so loudly for hours on end because I wouldn't allow him to play with my vacuum (he didn't want the functioning child size vacuum that worked). He kicked me and when I put him in the chair for time out for kicking me, he shoved his hand in his mouth and tried to vomit on my head (he got my legs). Bye bye brat.

              2. Dad was a creeper. He always stared at me, but I assumed he was just socially awkward. He would do drive-bys and stop to chat but he lives nearby so I didn't think anything of it. Then it became a pattern (3 times a weekor so). One day my dh saw him look down my shirt when I bent over to ge this daughters shoes off and he touched the front of his pants. Ick!!
