    Interviews!

I have 2 spots I would like to fill come September. I have had an ad out since around the 4th of July. No calls until recently.

Family 1-no call, no show I figured tho because her phone conversation gave me oodles of red flags.

Family 2-1 parent works for the school district and I don't give any discounts for breaks.

Family 3-nice. Kiddo was adorable, but they want open to close plus some. Ummm, no thanks. I'm already open 10 and not willing to go in to my family time.

Family 4-haven't interviewed yet. I'm trying to figure out if I can work it out. They have an infant and a toddler and I already have an infant starting in Oct.

I know of family 4 through the grapevine and think they would mesh well with the group I have. Fingers crossed I can work it out and they want to come! Altho I will have 2 infants for a bit

Hope family #4 works out for you!!! I am in the EXACT same boat - had a few prospects for the 3 *YIKES* openings I have for fall. One wanted open to close plus a half hour, another decided to put younger ones in the school older one goes to (even though they prefer the environment here - convenience of one drop off won out), another isn't having their baby till January - won't need care till Spring and the last is interviewing tomorrow night!!! I sooooo hope they sign up - they seem like a good fit just from our communications so far. Age of the child is perfect, nice/normal parents, etc. No clue how many other daycares they are looking at though.

When teachers call don't say there is no discounts for school breaks...just say your rate is XX (regular yearly rate divided by 40 weeks instead of 52*)

I offer teachers the choice, come all 52 weeks a year at $150 per week ($7800 per year) or come just during the school year for $195 per week ($7800 per year) with summers off.

Wording it that way makes them think they are getting a "discount" but they are actually paying the same as everyone else for the year.

Sometimes when people hear "no discounts" they are automatically not interested.

Just like with sibling discounts, Nan always says whatever rate you give people will be what they believe their normal rate should be and no long see it as a discount no matter how much cheaper it is compared to your normal rates....kwim?

So for siblings if your normal rate is $150, you say the first kid will be $175 and sibling is at $125. Still equals the $300 per week but "looks" like a discount.

        * Don't know if my math is perfectly correct as I wasn't using actual rates, just trying to show an example.

I'll have to remember that. When we had talked originally, she didn't say that she worked for the district, just that she was looking for full time. Oh well, live and learn!

Family #4 is coming in 30minutes, so fingers are crossed!

It went very well! There is one little kink that dcm is trying to work out and then she will let me know! Hopefully it will work out.

Yea! I apologize for not seeing this the other day. It must have been way far down the posting list which I rarely have enoughtime to get to .

Awesome that you have already filled your spots! I hate interviews and the whole process it involves so its nice to be set for sure before the spots are open for too long! happyface
