I have mainly teachers kids (with the exception of a sibling group) and have had a pretty lax summer. One kid I have seen off and on about once every 2 weeks. That's ok with me as I don't mind when they come in the summer. The thing I notice is that with this break comes HE-double hockey sticks come back to school.
My one dck came back after a 3week hiatus and is a NIGHTMARE! Woowhee did he surprise me with his kicking and hitting the other kids today, the toy he wanted and tried to grab from the kid and then at me when I went to resolve the situation. He's 2.5 and has always had a little of an issue but holy moly today was just crazy!! I was knocked in the chin by sneakers and him blowing his nose at me and tryin to claw at me. I finally wrangled him into timeout where he went off the wall with kicking it and going absolute apepooop on it.
I was exhausted just trying to shield myself and the child from getting hurt. It took him 45 minutes to calm down. I was so surprised at his actions I just kept him where he was for time out as to not hurt himself or others. Finally after he calmed down I was able to snuggle him and talk about what happened and remind him of my rules. He had a better lunch and part of the afternoon before nap which was good for everyone.
He's always had a listening issue here and it's been elevating slightly but today was just amazing to me. His mom texted me to know how he was half way thru the day and I filled her in. She says that they have had issues with it at home and feels its just a phase.
How do you guys get through the back to school phase? Lots of wine when ghey go home?
