Can I do anything about this?

I have a contract with a family of an almost 4 year old and 8 year old. Their hours are 6-5:15 M-Thurs. It was my first family in our new home/reopening, so I charged her lower rates since I really needed the clients. They are both at $30/day ($15 for before and after school) AND I gave her a 10% discount on the second/SA kid. I also didn't stick to my guns and they only pay for M-Thurs for the 4 year old (with per diem drop in for Friday at an additional $30) and M-F during the school year for the SA kid. My normal rates now are $35/day for under 5 and $30/day for school aged, no sibling discount. So when school starts again in September, I get paid $187.50/week for these two kids. I CAN replace them both with one kid at $175/week.

Their annual contract review is up soon, and I would LOVE to raise dcb's rates to $35, have them pay for FT care (I don't take PT unless they pay a FT spot now) AND eliminate the sibling discount. But I know it isn't realistic or fair to raise them from $187.50 to $250. Dh says I should just term them and replace them. I COULD term them 'nicely' by eliminating SA care-which I have considered doing anyway. SA kid isn't my favorite kid (rude/mouthy and my biggest complainer) but 4yo is a dream and I would miss him.

It can't hurt to present the price raise to them and explain that you are no longer offering a discount. If they don't like it they can leave. If they are ok with it then you get paid fairly. Win win.

Do you even want to keep the SA long term though? Dont offer something, like continued SA care if you really dont even want to do that. There is nothing wrong with raising your rates now that you are up and going.
