    Need Help Quick!

What would you charge for 2 drop in kids from 5:30-10 pm tonight? They are ages 9 & 2 and they have never been here before but we do know the family. I normally charge $5 an hour per child but I'm afraid if I quote them too much they won't come...and I need the money soooooo bad! I don't know what to do. Help please! Thank you!

p.s. I normally close at 5:30 and I will have to take these kids to my son's football practice with me from 6-8.

My drop in rate is $30 per child but if I really needed to money and it was no inconvenience to me I would do $30 for the 2 year old and $15 for the 9 year old.

I was thinking $45 as well. My son is good friends with the 9 year old so I know he would be excited to have him here. I called the dad back & left a message so we shall see... At this point, I'd do almost anything to get the extra money! I hate that times are so tough for us

They ended up not needing me

However- I did get another call from a guy at my church who needs drop-in care for 2 kids on a couple of days in August. They are his grandchildren. One is 3 years old & one is 10 years old but has Down's Syndrome. He said he behaves mentally more like a 5 year old & he would be fine watching SpongeBob all day. I wasn't really sure what to tell him...1st of all, I have no experience with Down's and 2nd of all, I would never just let a kid watch tv all day.

Any advice on what to charge or how to handle this situation would be greatly appreciated! I would like to do it for this guy because it would be a great opportunity to get some word-of-mouth business through the church.
            Thanks!!

(It would be a total of 14 hours.)

No advice, just wanted to point out how very sad I thought this grandfather's remark is.

That's sad. Downs kids are some of the sweetest kids! If you take him, be prepared for lots of hugs and treat him like he is younger (developmentally he is) he would probably really enjoy prek activities and songs.

I know, I thought that was sad too. I mean, unless Spongebob is what he REALLY REALLY likes & makes him happy. ?? Like I said, no experience with this...but I'm thankful for the opportunity to learn

Children with Downs are wonderful. I worked for nearly a year one-on-one with a child with Downs. I think you would really enjoy having that sibling set and interacting with them (...without Spongebob...).
