    Lazy, Attitude, or Mindless?

Dcg 5 going to K in Fall. All summer has struggled to do normal expectations.

Put mat away after nap- 3 days a week hers is either still in her space or half tucked away.

Goes to bathroom- suddenly I am having to remind her to flush- EVERYTIME.

Yesterday she just wandered outside on her own. A NEVER ALLOWED in this house. "_____ WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" DCG-" Oh, I wanted to go out"

Suddenly she can't eat with manners- licks her plate .

Can't sit at the table appropriately.

Needs constant reminders to pick up (or takes 45 minutes and does NOTHING),

Won't follow normal routine, like reading upon arrival- asks to watch tv- Again "UHH NO!"

I could go on for hours, this kid is getting more difficult than the babies.

Mom said she is like this at home lately too. Is this so I don't miss her when she starts K :: or is this typical transition to K behavior? What gives?

I really do think that one of the hardest times with daycare kids is that summer right before they go to kindergarten. They are bored and unchallenged at daycare and that leads to misbehavior of some sort. She's old enough to know the rules, she just doesnt care right now to follow them and none of the consequences at daycare have a huge effect on her. This will most likely be the way she is for the rest of the summer.

I have a significant portion of my group aging out to kindergarten next month and they are all acting strange - kids who have been potty trained for years are suddenly wetting themselves, not cleaning up, playing with food at the table, generally acting like they just started daycare yesterday. I was wondering what the issue was.

My DCB that's starting school in the fall has been a handful as well. Doing odd out of character things like your DCG and generally driving me and his parents bananas. I'm hoping things go back to normal when school starts. It has helped a bit treating him like a SA instead of a preschooler. He likes the extras the big boys get so he has some extra motivation.

Is it possible that there is some anxiety with going to kindergarten? I know it is an exciting time for kids but might also be a little stressful.

Hey, that explains MY DD too!

And further cements my decision that early application to kindergarten was the right move for her :P

She's not *awful* per se, but she is acting a bit odd this summer and is playing with the dcks even less than she sued to. Begging to play with her (slightly older) cousins more than usual too.

With any luck she'll pass her assessment (ha! I'm pretty sure she'll ace it easily) and be off to school here in about three weeks.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!
