    Overnights

I'm restarting my daycare, so I don't have any dck's yet. I'm in the process of getting registered through the state of Iowa. I've had a couple of calls for people who have schedules that are all over the place ask me to watch their children. Some of these hours would be overnights. I've tried looking through Iowa law to figure out if I would be required to stay awake if I have dck's overnight but have not been able to find anything specific as of yet. I've talked to a couple of other daycare providers in my area and am getting mixed answers. Any suggestions?

There are plenty of providers that do all three shifts and they are registered so I would have to say no, you do not need to be awake. You should call your local Child Care Resource and Referral or Department of Human Services to double check.
