    I Can’t Believe I Have This Problem!!!

Any good prospects for daycare families have been few and far between. There is a million and one moms now watching kids at home to make ends meet.....lots of competition.

I have had to take a part timer and an infant in order to make ends meet. Both are working out well so far but still, I wasnt really wanting to do that anyway.

All of a sudden, I am getting huge floods of requests for daycare....maybe because the school year is starting up? Only one mom has been a teacher so I dont know what the deal is. I have had a half dozen people or more contact me just yesterday for daycare! what?!?!? never had this issue before.

Okay so I have one full time infant, one full time toddler that is almost 2 years old. Beginning in August, my other two kids will be part time. a 2 year old and a 3 year old. I hate, hate, hate the thought of letting either of these kids go but I also hate the thought of not taking a full timer in their place. The 3 year old has been here since birth and is going part time for preschool. I know her parents cant afford the full time rate for part time care. The 2 year old has been here 3 or 4 months and I hate to term now when things are going well and she is fully transitioned into care. I dont know what I am going to do.....

In this economy I would not let go of any kids until you have the others lined up. I usually only take preschool kids but have had to take an infant and 2 year olds and 1 part-timer. I made the mistake of letting a child go to make room for other kids but then they fell through leaving me with openings. Although it will hurt to let go of those kids, you have to do what is best for YOUR family.

well I definitely wouldnt let anyone go until I knew for sure a new child was working out! still, if I have to let my part timers go, it will just be really really hard to do.

Not sure of your location but it is the exact same thing in my area.

Not one call for the longest time & BAM I am getting 1-2 calls everyday or so. I have to say too that only 1 has been school/teacher

        Interesting

            Daycare calls?

After 10 years of doing this I always tell people that are just staring out to expect the most calls and do the most advertising at the end of summer and during the winter break. That is when I have always been bombarded with calls.

Unless you get a deposit for the last two weeks of care for a NEW family, don't let a part-time family go.

True. It's not easy letting PT families go, but you need to do what is best for your family, as they would theirs. You can give them the option of going full time, or leaving.
