Need Help. Assosiate in a AZ Center

I work in the school age room at a daycare. I have plenty of experiance and I am good at what I do. The center seemed awesome when I started. However I have ran into some serious issues this last two weeks. There are two to three teachers (max of 3) in the school age room with 70 plus children every day. The lead teacher yells in the students faces a lot, does not allow talking for hours at a time while she expects them to watch the same 3 movies over and over again and if they talk she puts them on the wall for anywere from 20 minutes to several hours ( depending on if its a student she likes or doesn't) . The kids are terrified of her. I personally have seen her kick a childs foot for not sitting on the floor crisscross but in a cheer leader sit instead, scream in a childs face for bumping a table and causing her drink to spill and grab and drag children by their arm or clothing. This has been a daily thing with her. The other teachers are afraid to say anything because she's good friends with the director and no action is ever taken. When I tried to approach the director today after stopping the teacher from getting in a young boys face for bumping her table(we had 76 children in a class tha's not suppose to have more than 60 and there were only 3 teachers) she began cryingg histericly and screaming at me that im getto and classless. The end result was the director did absolutly nothing about the situation. And to top it off we sent home 27 children with head lice out of the 30 that had it because even after two other teachers showed the director the nits the loud teacher claimed that they didn't have it. So today all the kids were back including the ones with headlice. I am angry . Not because of the center but for the children. I am a mother a student and a preschool teacher and I know that no child needs to be treated in such a way and especially not by someone who is not their parent. We are here to help the parents raise their children and to care for these children as if they are our own not tramatize them. But now I feel cornered. Who can change this and protect these kids and the staff.

Wow! That is just unbelievable! I am also in Arizona. I don't know who else you can contact I would say the state? The police? I would also say I couldn't work there with all those things happening but wouldnt want to just quit and turn a blind eye to it all. Those poor kids. Someone else will hopefully come along with more advice as the morning goes on.

    Welcome to the forum!

Omg that os just horrible... Good for.you for standing up and tryinv to do the right thing! Is there a licensing office you can contact? While.it may not.necessarily be child abuse there are def some issues at the center. Maybe you could get some of the other teqchers to file complaints as well? Im so glad you are standing up for these children and not just quiting and walking away.

Wow. I had an awful experience as a teacher at a center and it ultimately led me to open my own home daycare. Nothing like you described, but it was bad.

I would report it. Immediately. Start keeping detailed notes with incident, date, time, witnesses, etc. If you tell the director and it isn't handled, document that as well.

Someone needs to stand up for these kids and that someone is YOU. You can do it and it is worth it. Speak for those who have no voice.

Honestly, if I were you, I would get a micro video recorder and document this abuse.
