    Naptime/potty accident ?'s

    I have an accidents at naptime question. I have a 3 year old boy who is potty trained except at night and sometimes naps. If he wears a pull up at naptime he is sure to poop in it but won't if he is just in underwear. He has wet accidents about half of the time at nap.

    What would you all do? I have been having him take off his shorts so I don't have to wash them. I have him potty before nap and if he is awake during nap I have him go every 30 minutes.

    I would rather have him change his underwear and wipe off his mat than change a poopy pull up.

    Is there a way I can convince him not to poop in the pull up? He says he does it because he can.

    He's a sweet kid so I'm not complaining about him. I'm not sure what to do with nap time and accidents vs pooping in a pull up.

    my niece was like this. She "needed" a pull up to poop in. Seriously it was gross to change. does he poop at the same time, maybe make him sit on the toilet longer.

      He will poop without the pull up without a problem. The problem I'm having is that at naptime he has pee accidents about half the time during that 1-2 hours. If I put a pull up on him he is sure to poop in it but he won't have a poop accident if he has underwear on.

      I don't really want to clean up pee after nap but I even more do not want to clean up poop even if it is in a pull up. Does that make sense? I guess what frustrates me is that I know he is pooping in the pull up just because he can. He even tells me he is awake when he poops in it so I know he just isn't getting up to go.

      I would be fine putting the pull up on him in case he pees in his sleep.

        hmm that stinks. Its like one or the other. I wonder if he's not emptying himself completely when he goes to the bathroom.

          I don't know but I'm not sure how I can find that out. I've only tried pull ups twice in the 4 weeks he's been here and those are the only times he's pooped at nap time.

          Oh well, I can handle the pee accidents. Maybe I can get him to go to the bathroom twice before nap.

            Put the pull up on over the underware A 4 yr old should not have to be around other children without his shorts on.
            It:: will wait

              He is only around his 2 yr old sister at naptime and he has long shirt on like a night shirt. I make sure he isn't running around in his underwear. My kids aren't even in there when he is just in his underwear.

              I know once a pull up is on he is going to poop in it. I can try and see if he won't if it is on the outside of his underwear.
