Nice to see the provider protected

I have read some horror stories on here where disgruntled parents (who don't want to pay/want rules changed/got termed for bad behavior) call their state licensing and make up stories to get back at the provider.

Utah has our backs! I love their statutes on this. Parents can complain online, but have to understand this first. It will help a lot of providers!

"By statute, the Department is not allowed to investigate an anonymous complaint. The statute also does not allow us to investigate complaints that allege incidents which occurred more than 6 weeks prior to the report of the incidents.

By submitting a complaint, you acknowledge that the information you submit is accurate. If a person knowingly gives false information to Child Care Licensing for the purposes of changing the status of a child care license or certificate, the person giving the false information may be guilty of a Class B Misdemeanor."

I hope other states follow. I understand that in some states, a complaint stays on record even if it is unfounded! So unfair!

    This is great!!

I agree its nothing to give notice to a family & then they turn around and call your county director "trying" to get you in trouble.

AND YES, in Ohio regardless of the complaint/findings it goes in your record- FOREVER. SO unfair!

I always email my county director when a notice is given and the door is open for a parent to call her and file a complaint.

          I'm moving.

I hope more states take a stand like this. Seems that it is "guilty until proven innocent" and it's the providers job to prove their innocense.

At least here in Michigan it only stays on your record if there is a violation.
