    Anyone Still Up?

DCM texted me an hour ago telling me the schedule changed for tomorrow and can she drop off at 7am instead of 9:30. Her normal drop off is 7 usually but tomorrow the schedule was supposed to be 9:30-7:30pm. I asked her what time DCG would be picked up and she finally texts back 6:30pm. Ugh!! An 11 and a half hour day!! This is my Screamer so i already want to say no but I really have no reason other than I was planning to stay up later tonight because of the later morning tomorrow and clean the house. I should already be in bed if drop off is at 7. I can't very well charge more for the change less than 12 hours before she wants to drop off because they pay a flat weekly rate to use whatever time they need with notice. I have told her before I need a lot more notice for schedule changes. Ugh!!!!

Am I stuck or can I tell her no?

I would tell her that you will do it next time but after this there can be no more schedule changes. This is due to the fact that you make plans and set her schedule for those plans if that makes sense.

Now, we both need to get to bed because for me 5:30 will be coming early! If only the sun was shining when I get up. Lately its always grey and cloudy. Makes me feel like its winter time instead of summer!

Why can't you charge her a "convenience fee" for the late schedule change? Late notice = $$$$ Since she can't remember on her own, remind her with her wallet.

Last time there was a change I told her this one time. But yeah I guess she can't remember on her own like you said Jen. It doesnt say in my handbook a fee will be attached so I dont know if I can do that. I don't even know how much I would charge.

I left all the cleaning to be done after DH and DS went to bed because I knew that I wouldn't have to get up so early. So now I am scrambling to get everything done i wanted including mopping sticky floors and vacuuming... I am probably not going to be to bed before midnight

Text her back! Say, "Sally, I can take Johnny at 7, but because of the late notice I have to alter my schedule. The convenience fee for late notice is $XX for the 2.5 hour change. From here on out, the convenience fee will be charged for last minute schedule changes."

I sent her a text back and told her that the schedule change this late is not something I can accomodate as I planned things according to the original schedule. I said it a lot better than I just typed it though. She said thats fine but I will need to drop her at 9 so I am only 2 hours late for work then. I said that is fine and that I try to remain as flexible as possible but I am not wonder woman.

My contract states that parents have to give a 24 hour notice if needing early drop off. It says that they MAY be charged an early drop off fee. That way, depending on the situation, I can decide at that moment, whether to charge for it or not without breaking the contract.

It's in my contract, no schedule changes can be accommodated after 5pm the day before (cancellations due to illness or emergency being the exception).

I plan meals, activities for the following day, exercising my dogs, doing things with my family and cleaning of my house around knowing at least the day before who's coming and when.

Short of a parent needing like, emergency surgery, I wouldn't make an exception to that. Do it once they'll always assume you'll do it again, it'll definitely open yourself up to being poked and prodded into making everyone's last second accommodations.

My contract is the same way. I plan appts. gymnastics, swimming lessons, ball games, practices, dinners out, etc. etc....... if I am at home, if they are late, they will receive a late fee for the next week!!
