    Holidays Off

It is in the handbook, it is laminated and posted right in front of the door where you simply cannot miss it. And yet, a parent who is being reminded about the fact that we are closed on the Fourth of July looks baffled, puzzled, confused even. She asked how much care would cost on that day. Ummm we are closed. Why is it that parents cannot conceive the notion that providers need breaks too?

Because they are in their own world and not even thinking about anyone else most of the time. If THEY dont get the day off or have any plans, they assume no one else gets the day off or no one else has other plans either. It not necessarily bad intentioned, its just the new normal to be very self centered.

Because according to some people, we are supposed to be in this for the children, not money or anything else, so therefore we don't need days off or good pay or holidays or vacations or anything.

Either that, or some people still think that teachers live at school and don't eat or have homes, that Santa and the tooth fairy are real, and that babies grow in cabbage patches or are delivered by the stork.

Anyway, you missed your chance to make some major extra money! When she asked how much care would be that day, you should have said, $100. Or $150.
