    Mystery Solved...7 Mo Screamer..I Think

so...mom's friend said "hey...have you ever considered he has a reflux issue?"

no...but he does seem to "burp" alot..then swallow...

Took him to doc last week Friday. DOc said "well, we could try a med, see if it helps"

By Sunday...he is a different child!!!!

He used to SCREAM 5 hours straight, pretty much (ok..4.75 of the 5).

Now...he cries .25 of the 5.... and he PLAYS...and he COOS...

Just thought I'd throw that out there, ladies...for those of you with screamin' meamers...

happyface yah for you and for baby!!!!!!!

I am so jealous there was a reason behind his screaming! There is none behind my screamer. He just is who he is. Mom has done every thing in her power to find out a reason with no luck and his 1st birthday coming up in 2 weeks and still screaming.... *sigh*

    But again.....yah for you!!!!!! happyfacehappyfacehappyface

two of my screamers were reflux babies, its very hard on moms and providers! I am glad that was the answer though. Had a few criers were we could never figure out what the deal was....

My screamers last day is tomorrow and I figured out his issue Tuesday. Gd it! Mine needs to be swaddled to sleep. I saddle him and out white noise on them after 10 minutes of fuss I get 2 hour nap twice and a 1 hour nap later. Dcm says he doesn't sleep til midnight or 1 am. He's woken up and brought here at 5 am. With out the saddle he doesn't sleep well.

Wish these parents wouldn't allow their infant to stay up so frickin late!

As a parent of a "difficult" child with lots of health issues I can say that reflux is not something to mess around with. My dd was totally different once we could get her reflux under control. Well until the food allergies started but that is a whole different thing.

Can I say though that the meds that they give them are TERRIBLE tasting and you should flavor them with those flavor RX things they offer at the pharmacy. The flavor RX is free in our area. Also, the meds my DD was on got to be really spendy (over 150 a month) so I advise to only use them as long as they are absolutely necessary. And when weaning you MUST do a slow, gradual, over a few weeks to months wean or kids get rebound reflux which looks and acts like reflux and can make you think they still need the meds when really they just have rebound.

I have heard of kids who are on those meds for a long time (like past 2 years old) so a 3 yr old could still be refluxing.

I am well versed in this if you cant tell

              Thanks Jojo-

I didn't taste the medicine, but mom did, and she said it was gross. Pepperminty chalk..really strong. But, he seems to take it without too much fuss, and he's SO SO SO much happier!

Last week, if he fell out of a sitting position, he screamed. If he rolled onto his stomach, he screamed. He wanted to be held constantly.

Right now, he scootched OUT OF MY LAP.....and is rolling all around the room cooing. Yesterday he learned to pull himself into a sitting position, and he is trying to crawl. Wow...just wow!

He was at his dad's this weekend. I've been teasing mom that dad must have kept the evil twin and sent the good twin home accidently.
