A month! I'm aware we are all in different areas, but I charge 175-200/week FT.....There are some kids I would take at a low rate, but others I would want double my normal rate! LOL

If you break it down though, it doesn't really seem that far fetched IMHO.

FULL TIME FLAT RATE PAY $350!

Works out to be roughly $87.50 per week and $17.50 per day

        4 DAYS=$325

Works out to be roughly $81.25 per week and $20.31 per day

        3 DAYS=$300

Works out to be roughly $75.00 per week and $25 per day

        2 DAYS=$275 A MONTH!

Works out to be $68.75 per week or $34.38 per day

It really isn't that low depending on the area and/or state you live in. She may only work 8 hours per day too...who knows. She may also have parents provide the food for meals and snacks as well.

I know of areas in my state where the provider only charges $100 per week for full time kiddos so I really don't think those rates are too outlandish.

They are lower than mine but I keep mine just slightly higher than what the state reimburses for assisted families in my area.

I also feel I can charge a bit more as I am fairly well established and have a pretty good wait list but still don't see to much wrong with those rates. Especially if the kiddos maybe do nothing but watch TV all day....kwim?

I also think that flat rate billing per month is an excellent way to have an "expected" income and know full well what you are brining in each month.

Maybe she charged hourly before and found that she was making far less if parents cut the day short or didn't use care on certain days, or perhaps she is one of those providers who is winding down with her career and simply using an easy way to bill and bring in income that may even be money her family isn't completely dependent on.

I guess what I am saying is we all do what we need to do to make ends meet. Some do special, some bend rules/policies, some bill hourly, some bill monthly, some lower their rates, raise rates, change policies and/or term....we just do what works for us. Apparently, those rates work well for her.

I agree with Blackcat. It doesn't seem too out of bounds for me.

Maybe because of where I live as cost of living here is pretty low. I'm actually not too far above her advertised prices and I do just fine.

The price including meals and snacks isn't that big of a deal either, she could be on a food program. On tier 1 here I actually end up *making* money off being on my food program even despite me feeding a lot of organic. We also garden a ton in the summer and I freeze loads of our produce which further offsets the cost of groceries long term.

It's hard to judge without having all of the facts of her particular set up and situation.
