OT But Really Need Some Advice!!

We went up to Scottsdale, AZ yesterday to spend time with my aunts who were getting their condo ready for snowbird season. It was very hot, around 114 degrees when we got up there and we stayed in the AC until it got cooler (around 105) and then headed out to dinner.

After dinner, there was a splash pad and my DS ran around in it in the sun for like 45 mins and had a blast laughing and chasing daddy and getting all wet. We took him back to the condo for jammies and then hit the road for the 2 hour drive home. He slept halfway home and all night long until about 6:05 and then woke up fussing which he usually does when he is tired of course.

I got him up and sat with him on the couch and he just laid there with me which is sooooo out of character. He is 16 months old and ALWAYS on the go even when tired. I got him some water and he drank some while laying on the floor and then while I was greeting DCG and DCM at drop off I sat down on the floor with him and he just laid in my lap. I laid him down to bed again to see if he would go back to sleep and he fell asleep before I was even out of the room I think.

DCM saw his out of character sleepiness and called DCD to pick up DCG since he is off all week anyhow and just picking up some shifts. She said she felt bad dropping her off since he obviously wasn't feeling great and needed sleep.

He has had diarrhea the last few days and the dr suspected it was the milk so I have cut all diary out (as per dr orders) and only one bout of diarrhea yesterday morning.

So, do you think he is just soooo tired from the heat and the sun yesterday? A bug? No fever, etc.

Obviously I know you're not doctors! But you all are DC providers and some are moms so you know kids!

As some of you may know I have a HUGE phobia of vomit so I am just afraid that its a tummy bug or something and he is going to throw up I am all anxious.

He is probably worn out from running around in the water/sun. Honestly, I'd just see how he is once he wakes up from his little cat nap and go from there.

From personal experience-once it gets into the high 90s-100ish here, we put up a small wading pool for my girls, and turn on the sprinklers, the next day they usually sleep later, and want to just lie around the next day. That sun and water combination just wears their little bodies out.

Possibly heat stroke? I don't know how long it last or what but since it was so hot out maybe he reacted to it.

If he doesn't get better maybe a quick call to the dr. is in order.

I called his Dr... While on the phone with the Dr he started throwing up all over and the Dr yelled to call 911 and get him to the er... So I did. First responders showed up and took his vitals and he was more alert so they didn't take him. I am going to take him to his doctor today and DH is home to help me keep an eye on him.

I am going to bathe him and offer some applesauce and then see if he will sleep.

        Idk what's going on...

ah, wow! I just sw this! I sure hope your little one is ok Breez!

I would assume the docotr on the phone said call 911 because if it was/is heat stroke, it can get pretty serious pretty quickly.

Wow!! Totally praying for you...keep us updated as to how he is doing!

It could be that he had a virus/stomach bug brewing before you left for your aunts' house. Maybe you were able to squeak some fun in before the symptoms kicked in. I hope it's nothing serious and that he's feeling better soon.

                  Ok here is the update:

We went to see his doctor this morning and he said stomach bug that has been going around. When we came home he had some water and yogurt and took a nap. Kept down the water and yogurt so we gave him bananas and yogurt after his nap. Kept that down and then destroyed my living room playing all after noon. Fussy here and there but nothing too bad.

He started crying for more food about 2 hours after the bananas so he had like half a can of double noodles soup and some gatorade. Had another bath and is now playing and drinking gatorade. Chatting up a storm to us and seems to be on the mend. He pooped once today and it was half loose half formed.

My thoughts are that he maybe has had the bug the last few days and it was mostly the diarrhea and side we were so active and outside yesterday it wore him out and made him feel icky this morning hence the lethary and the throwing up.

I am planning on being open tomorrow but parents have the option of not bringing kids.
