    Evacuation/Fire Preparedness?

Not house fire, but a field fire/wildfire. I know a lot of you live in areas where wildfires are possibilities. While I don't think my area is in a lot of danger, I am aware that things happen and you can never be too careful. It's VERY dry and VERY hot around here--especially the next ten days or so. They are warning people about the dry and hot conditions being ripe for fires.

So...when you don't have a vehicle that can seat all your daycare kids, how do you prepare for the possibility of needing to evacuate, maybe at a moment's notice, ahead of a fire? Or, in the event of a gas leak or other freak incident requiring evacuation?

I've thought about and planned for tornadoes and winter storms, but nothing as emergent as this, and not having plans makes me nervous!
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I'm required to have emergency back-ups in case of emergency. They have to be close by and able to quickly get to my day care if I need help. My back-ups have vehicles and could help evacuate the kids if necessary. From what I've heard, there are also fire/police departments in some communities that will help evacuate day cares if the need arises. You might want to check with your local departments to see if they can help if you need it.

I have family members set up to help my transport children to a safe zone in case of an evacuation like that. I also live in a very SAHM community, so we have it set up with a few of the moms here to help out if I need it.
I've only had one gas leak emergency in my whole life, and thankfully it was only my children in my home with me at the time, so we just went to my neighbors home. (Old old old furnace, finally just didn't want to keep the gas going into it anymore, decided it was time to release it into our home.)
