    Daycare Room Flooring

I am considering changing the entrance to my daycare to the back of the house to a room that has an attached 1/2 bath. Right now it has carpet, but the kids will be doing art projects and eating in there as well so I need to change it up. What do you use on the floor in your daycare room? Carpet, tile, vinyl, a mixture of both? I need a pretty affordable option.

I just posted this same question last week or the week before. I have rug right now, but I'm finding it that no matter how much I shampoo it, its still dirty. I'm also changing my back enterance (so only my children would use it) to the front for all the kids and parents. So they would directly go into the daycare room. I'm thinking of putting wood flooring (floating floor or whatever they call it) costco has awesome flooring. I wouldn't mind linolium because the new styles are nice except my floor is uneven (old house)

I have carpeting in every room except the kitchen, mud room, and 1 bathroom. What I did was get a couple of vinyl tablecloths and put one of them under the art/sensory/dining room table. Easy to wipe up spills and because they were cheap I don't mind tossing it when it gets too bad.

At my moms house we laid down those vinyl peal and stick tiles. She also has an old house and we used self-leveler before we laid the tiles down. All told it wasn't very expensive.

      Hope that helps!

Our house is old too...built in 1900. It is carpet right now, but underneath 1/2 the room is wood and the other 1/2 is just a plywood subfloor from what can tell from pulling up the edges of the carpet. I was thinking of putting in a floating tile looking vinyl in the whole room and then adding an area rug. The room is 200 sq ft. How big is your daycare room Countrymom?

I thought about the peel and stick tiles...we used them in our hall bath, but I don't like the thought of stuff getting caught in the crevices in a daycare area ya know?

my house is old too, its 100 yrs old, but its being redone (updated) I have no idea what sized the front room is. But I have rug, and underneath the rug is ceramic tiles because we were in a hurry to move in and dh didn't want to remove them. But now they are all lifting underneath.

I have carpet mainly. In the dining room, I found that the heavy duty floor mats that are used to put under chairs in offices work perfectly under each of our tables. They wipe up very easily and stay put.

Oh wow! That is a good idea Meeko. I will have to look to see how big those come in. I have a rectangle table.

I have large ones from Sams Club. They are the perfect fit under my kid sized tables. They are rectangular (some have a narrower end to fit under a desk..so don't get those) OfficeMax also has them.

I like the fact that you can see the carpet through them. I have toyed with other floor coverings, but I like the way carpet muffles sound!!!
