Providing Cloth Diapers?

Is it totally off the wall to provide cloth diapers for clients for a one time charge (75$) then a monthly charge (5$) for soap?


I have enough covers and prefolds/flats to diaper 5 kids. They're tough and can withstand constant laundering. the labor is minimal honestly if I'm paid for it and it's appreciated.

At this point it would be an advertising draw to fill spots. It would cut down on diaper and wipe costs for sure AND keep my trash from over flowing.

Fwiw, we don't pay for water, gas or electric so soap is my only cost. And I have separate washer for diapers (got a new one and kept old for diapers). disinfecting and sanitizing doesn't worry me. I bleach the diapers and was in super hot water.

Any how what do you think?

Are you licensed? are there any regulations you need to abide by as far as offering this service?

Other than that, I dont see a problem in offering the service with the fee detailed. I could see it saving some parents a lot of money but its still just an option, not something that is mandatory to be a part of your daycare. I might a basic handout that shows how much money they will be saving in taking part in this option. Total up the number of diapers and the cost that an average kid goes through and then show parents how quickly their initial fee will produce noticeable savings!

I do it and I think the parents appreciate it.

I actually use a diaper service that is $60/month and I just cover that cost myself.

I don't charge anything extra and just cloth diaper all the kids still in diapers.

I purchase disposables as well to send the kids home in. None of my dc families cd at home.

I think it depends on your area if it would entice families or not. For me, outside Dallas, it's not a big pull for families and cding families are few and far between. If you're in an area that is a bit more into cding and appreciative of the benefits I think it could really help with your marketing.

BTW I am licensed and my state lady loves that I offer it as a service. Procedures are no different from disposables.

I have seriously considered it.
I have several children that are nearing the potty-training age but are still in diapers/pull-ups.
Hmmm. Time to research this more. I am thinking a $40 start-up fee, and $10/month.

This article is good to read for your regular machine that you don't use for diapers. Send a bleach cycle through it every so often...
