What Would You Charge For This Amount Of Time?

DCB will be coming to my house afterschool only.

He will be here from 3:45-5:00pm 3 days a week one week and 2 days a week the next week.

What would you charge mom? She thinks it's fair to only pay for the time he is here.

I will be raising my daily rate from $30 to $35 a day.

I honestly dont know what to do.

Depends? Are you full? Do you want to be?

I do not want to be full, ever. I just had someone ask for 3:45 to 4:30. Its basically extra money since I dont want a kid filling up this spot anyway. I said $3. The kid is great.

If the kid was a pain or took up a spot I could use to make full time income my answer would be different.

I charge $10/day for before OR after school only. If they are here before AND after school, I charge $15/day. I charge $35/day if they need a school off day and I have room.

I have a couple of kids for before only or after only ~ I just look at it as extra cash.

When I did take SA kids I charged a flat weekly rate for their reserved space. Didnt care if they came every day or only one as the rate was weekly. I understand that this DCM wants to pay only for the days/time her child uses but having access to the space is what she is paying for.

I wouldnt give her an hourly rate but instead give her a weekly rate and tell her that she is paying for the access not actual time. Unless she has one set scedule (only M,W,F or T, Th) I wouldnt budge. If she does have a set schedule, I'd still charge one flat rate just not as much as I would for the whole week.

If this is the same DCM from your other thread and you really dont care if she leaves your program then I would stand my ground and not allow her to continue dictating how you run your business.

I'd stand my ground either way but I do understand that losing clients for some is the difference between staying open or closing up shop.

I never did anything for less than $10 a day. Any less than that was not worth answering the door...!

Around here it is normally to see a weekly fee of $60 plus for after school care.
