What Would You Charge?

Dck started with me in Jan. 2011. My rate was 160 per week. His sister started coming in the summer of 2011 and I gave them a slight discount-150 for her. In the fall of 2011, I raised my rate to 170 per week, but I didn't apply it to current clients-just new ones.

Dck is going off to kindergarten in the fall, so the sibling discount will be eliminated. Would you charge 160 for the girl or my new 170? Thanks!

Personally I would go with the current-new rate of $170 per week. Explain the difference as no sibling discount. I think it is easier to keep everyone at the same rate.

Also with not having to pay for 2 kids in daycare, the parents probably won't think much of it and happily pay your regular weekly rate.

I as well would charge the new rate. My husband just had this talk with me. Next year will be my 4th year and some kids have been here all 4 years. I have not yet gone up in my fee yet he says I need to. He said who else would work in the same place for 4 years without a raise. He is right too. I never really thought of it like that. So if you went up I say it's time they pay the increase.

$170 for sure.
They will be glad they don't have to pay for two kids now and explain that its the sibling discount that no longer applies. And your rate went up last year. Tell them sooner than later. They have been there for a long time, they are not going to leave over $10.00.
