Seriously-Everyone Has Allergies?

I can't believe each and everyone of the dck's have allergies! One has had a runny, yucky nose, watery eyes, a cough for 2 months now! They have been sent home once with a fever or maybe twice and has missed 2 weeks now because of either having this stuff or the flu. Everytime they come back though its like they have a bad cold that never dries up.

In the last 2 weeks I have had FOUR, yes four kids with this stuff. They all missed at least 2 days of childcare because of it. Today though they still all have it and it won't go away. All the parents are saying allergies but I'm really starting wondering but the one child is what gets me. What child can have a cold for 2 months! They will dry up for a day or two and then start all over again. I just don't get it!

Dcm said dcb had allergies. Brought him back to daycare the next day after I sent him home.

Now I have an upper respiratory infection that is so bad that I need a nebulizer because my lungs are compromised. Gotta love putting someone's health at risk because *they* can't miss work! I can't sweep the floor, carry my toddler or just plain breathe with out being winded.

Where are you located? Allergy season is med-high right now. When you see pollen in puddles, well yes it that time of the year. After a while you get to know who has a cold and who has allergies.

Have they been to the Doctor and brought you a Doctor's note?

All of my parents who have children with "allergies" like that get sent to the Doctor by a very concerned me. I let them know that those "allergies" might become bronchitis. They get very concerned and take them. They always come back with the reason why their child is wheezing/dripping/coughing/throwing up/etc. It is never allergies.

I caught someone's "sinus infection" last week. It is really painful for me and makes things very difficult (but I push through...).

Where are you located? Allergy season is med-high right now. When you see pollen in puddles, well yes it that time of the year. After a while you get to know who has a cold and who has allergies.

Up in the Northwest where it is still pretty cold. Last week we actually flew kites and was bundled up because it was so cold. Today is the first nice day in quite awhile.

It has been very rainy still also.

Yes, this has been a horrible allergy season. My son and husband and daughter all are miserable and yes......it stops for a day or stop and then continues on.

Our children here have had non-stop runny noses and/or eyes for weeks upon weeks. I personally want to scratch my eyeballs out. This is a rough allergy season. I haven't sent anyone home, I've just stocked up on tissues to try to keep the gunk contained a bit.

Yes, I was listening to the news last night and they said that North of me, South of you has the highest allergies this year in the nation!!!! I guess the pollen count is out of the charts.

What gets me though, is last month I had to send one home with diarehha that was doing the allergy thing and then last week 4 of them were running temps with this stuff and I had to send home. Thats whats reall confusing me-

Allergies usually run clear fluid noses. Colds, and sinus infections run yellow- green. A child with a cold is more run down then a child that has allergies----but allergies can make a child run down too, and seem like they have a cold. A cold will clear up within 3 days to two weeks. Allergies usually keep on going longer. Colds sometimes run a fever. Allergies usually do not. Hope this helps-

I looked at it and it could be both. The only thing that they all had that wouldn't be an allergy thing would be the fever. They all where like this though before the fever so who knows! One is possibly going to the doctor today because the mom is so tired of the phlimy cough from the child.

My kids' allergies are horrible! And half of them have asthma. My usually non-seasonal allergy kid went haywire during vacation (who knew she would be so allergic to the Ozarks?), and ended up with bronchitis.

Just to throw everything off, a persistent cough with allergies could either be post-nasal drip OR asthma. Asthma flares will frequently cause low grade fevers because it is an inflammation of the lungs and the immune system goes nutso overreacting. So in my house...fever & allergies tend to go together. So we NEVER flipping know if it is a virus or allergies causing these symptoms.

Asthma & allergies are very closely linked...

A friend was telling me that the secretary where he works family had the following in ONE week!


Husband=Pneumonia
Wife=Sinus Infection
Older child=Bronchitis
Younger Child=RSV

Seriously, all this in one week. Thats why I don't want to mess around with these sick kids anymore. I'm sick of risking my health for sick kids. I've a couple that have missed an entire week and still are coming back sick! Out an entire week and they still aren't well? Something doesnt make since.

We've had some with slight fevers and colds, but mainly the allergy thing. I cannot wait until this passes.

This has been a horrid year for sickness for us, too. Mostly sinus related. Then that left and now we all have a stomach bug. Ugh!!

I've done everything humanly possible to keep germs at bay, to no avail.

I thought of burning the house down and starting this dc thing over but I was too exhausted (from being SICK!) to light the match...
