I found Free world U and it has flashcard curriculums for free if you dont want credit, so we'll try that. I also signed up for ABCmouse, but its below his level and is mostly games. We just both need to be disciplined!

Do you think our kids are at a disadvantage because they ARE with us all the time?
if it is reading, I highly suggest zoo phonics. every single one of my DCKs leave here with the ability to read easier reader books.

it is expensive, but well well worth it

why is it that they want children to start to read before they enter grade 1. why can't they be taught to read in grade 1. Long ago, when I went to kindy, I had to know my address, telephone number, how to tie my shoes all the basic stuff. Now, children who are 10 yrs old still don't know how to tie their shoes or their address or their birthday, everything seems so backwards.

also, boys like to read different things than girls. I found my ds liked comic books, or ripleys believe it or not books (lots of pictures) or science books. I also found reading books at thrift stores. A read good cheap reading books are the "bob" books, costco sometimes sells them.

I dunno. I just tested him for an online school and he tested at a first grade level, I guess I'll have to move!

why would you have to move?

I think that teacher might have ridiculous standards. Without meeting your son, I can't say for sure, but I don't think it sounds like he needs held back. Maybe she sees the not talking as immaturity? Which would be silly because most teachers don't want kids talking all the time!
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!
