Only mos and grandmas think a kid is special. To everyone else, your kid is just a kid....or a number, or a name on an application, or a face in a picture. I teach my own kids that too. Mom and dad love you and you are the best kid in the world to them.....but at Sunday School/etc., you are there to learn and not there to be "special"

I applaud the teacher. Some kids today think they are way too special and some parents let them think it. When I student-taught, I got so mad bc a student didn't turn in her research paper on time. Her mom said she was working with a tutor, and the tutor hadn't had time to meet with her. So, she needed an extension. She didn't have an IEP, so she should not have needed extra time. This is one reason I won't be returning to the public school system.

I even read an article a few weeks ago about parents/grandparents who are going on interviews/negotiating salaries for their college-educated children. I'm all for being an advocate for your child. But, the child has to be on her/his own eventually.

The link worked for me, Hunni Bee.

I loved his speech!! I wish some the of the parents at American Idol tryouts could hear this..... STOP telling your kids they can sing when they so obviously cannot carry a tune.... they **** and stop encouraging a dream that will never happen. Redirection, people.
